Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for England, has welcomed the opportunity to promote best practice examples of nursing care that have been collated by the Nursing and Care Quality Forum (NCQF).

To coincide with the CNO Summit, which took place on 26 and 27 November, over 150 examples of best practice created by the forum have been launched on NHS England’s 6Cs Live! website.

The NQCF also commissioned a report on the implementation of intentional rounding which has been published on our communications hub.

Intentional rounding is a structured approach nurses can use to carry out checks on patients at set intervals to assess their individual care needs.

Jane Cummings said: “We are delighted to support the NQCF and showcase examples of best practice, particularly as many are a perfect fit with the 6Cs. Both focus on supporting nursing staff to keep raising the standard of care.

“The members of the forum have been able to edit and sort the examples shared with them and now they can be easily browsed in each of the Compassion in Practice six action areas.

“By making the case studies open to everyone on the 6Cs Live! website I hope that nursing and care staff can be inspired to make positive changes to the way that they work, however big or small.

“I really want to encourage all nursing staff to take some time to have a look through them. Staff may also be interested to read the forum’s report on implementing intentional rounding, which outlines how using this approach can have a positive impact on care as well as what can be learnt from the demonstrator sites.”

The NQCF was established by the Prime Minister in November 2012. As an independent forum their mission has been to help nursing and care staff deliver the fundamental elements of good care and promote the adoption of best practice and innovation.
