NHS England and London CCGs welcome London Health Commission report

NHS England and London Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) today (15 October) welcomed the publication of the London Health Commission report, “Better Health for London”.

Commenting on the report, Anne Rainsberry, NHS England London Regional Director said: “As the Commission has progressed, it has been a privilege to hear, first hand, the passion of patients, members of the public, charities, politicians, and professionals both about what is good and what needs to change in London.

“London has a lot to be proud of in health, social care and life sciences research. But London also faces major challenges. NHS England will play its full part in helping integrate health and social care, on personalising care, and on working across professional and organisational boundaries.”

Speaking on behalf of London CCGs, Dr Marc Rowland, Chair of the London Clinical Commissioning Council commented: “London’s Clinical Commissioning Groups welcome the clear aspirations of The London Health Commission to improve the health of all Londoners. We recognise the challenge to prevent ill health, reduce health inequalities and to improve the quality of life of Londoners. We know that to be successful in this we will need to work with the public, patients and their carers.

“CCGs in London have worked hard in their first year to join up and improve care for individuals who need support. The Commission’s recommendations give a range of practical steps that will further help make this a reality.

“We look forward to working with our partners in the NHS, local government, the third sector and, above all, to working with the wonderfully diverse people and natural communities that make up London in finding ways to achieve the Commission’s aspirations.”
