Monitor and NHS England are redesigning the NHS payment system so it does more for patients. We have published an update which describes for patients how the NHS payment system works now, why it is being redesigned, and how and when the new system should be better for patients.

It is the first in a series of updates that NHS England and Monitor will produce to keep patients informed as the changes to the payment system progress.
