The NHS70 Parliamentary Awards are designed to celebrate the work of all NHS staff and those who work alongside them to improve and join up care in their communities.

To help celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS, the Royal Horticultural Society is giving one mental health trust the chance to win the Feel Good garden from this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.

All non-specialist acute trusts that undergo a Use of Resources assessment will now receive a trust-level rating that combines quality and use of resources.
Use of Resources assessments will be considered as a sixth key question alongside CQC’s quality ratings. Like CQC’s five quality questions, Use of Resources will be given a rating of outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.
The GIRFT programme has published a report setting out 17 recommendations to improve the way vascular surgery is delivered in the NHS in England.
The report identifies opportunities that will save lives, deliver better patient outcomes, improve efficiency and reduce unwarranted differences between hospitals.

With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force on 25 May, NHS England has published proposals for in-year National Variations to the NHS Standard Contract 2017/18 and 2018/19 for consultation.

National strategic summit: delivering health and care in a digital age

The Local Government Association, in partnership with NHS Clinical Commissioners and supported by NHS Providers, is holding a strategic summit for senior leaders such as chief officers, directors, assistant directors and heads of service.
It features a keynote from Lord O’Shaughnessy (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health) and speakers focusing on areas such as prevention, urgent and emergency care and managing demand.
