ITN Productions and the NHS are partnering to produce a news and current affairs programme celebrating 70 years of the NHS.
Drawing upon ITN’s 63 year heritage in storytelling, ’70 years of the NHS’ will be a long-form, online programme championing the NHS’s achievements since 1948. As well as looking back at the achievements and breakthroughs within the health service, the programme will explore the opportunities for future innovation and development.
’70 years of the NHS’ will hear from those on the frontline about the future of the NHS. The programme will speak to those who were there on Day 1 of the NHS story, as well the leaders who will drive change and best practice within health and social care.
The programme will provide a platform to exchange ideas on the pertinent issues facing our healthcare system.
’70 years of the NHS’ will also look at the advances in science, technology and information that will help NHS organisations to deliver the Five Year Forward View, and shape an NHS fit for the future.
Presented by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, the news-style piece will combine key interviews, news reports, and sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations within healthcare.
’70 years of the NHS’ will be launched at the NHS Confederation on the 13 and 14 June, at Manchester Central.
Antony Tiernan, Engagement and Communications Director, NHS 70 said: “We want the programme to highlight the achievements of the NHS and allow us to not only reflect on the history of such a treasured institution, but to also look at the future of the NHS and the exciting new innovations that will ensure it remains a leader in healthcare. We also want to show the invaluable contribution of our staff. The dedication and commitment of these everyday heroes, ensures that patients receive a service that is both compassionate and understanding during their time of need.”
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “As the NHS reaches this milestone it’s a great honour to be able to bring to life stories of an institution which is the envy of the world. We hope to feature the skill, compassion, and innovation of the people throughout the service as a means of confronting some of the challenges ahead, and ensuring the NHS will continue to improve outcomes, and deliver high quality care now and for future generations.”
