This weekly newsletter is sent to NHS providers’ chairs, chief executives, finance, medical, nursing and HR directors, and board secretaries.
For information
All organisations that issue national patient safety alerts will soon be required to use a single, standardised safety alert template. The new template will help you meet the agreed criteria of common standards and thresholds developed by the National Patient Safety Alerting Committee and support you to take the necessary steps to tackle safety-critical issues raised in an alert.
Please check your central alerting system for further information on what action you will need to take as a result of the changes.
GOV.UK Pay offers a simple, secure and compliant way to take and manage online payments from NHS service users. It also provides a way of assisting cost recovery from overseas visitor debt — saving you time and money. The payment platform can be used across all areas, including for salary overpayments, courses run by trusts and for private patient income.
This brand-new campaign created by Public Health England with our support, takes a different approach to flu season — emphasising the protective benefit of the flu vaccination. Please ensure your frontline staff are aware of the need for, and benefits of, the free annual flu vaccination.
The cancer patient survey supports you to provide better cancer care by monitoring national progress and driving local quality improvements. Following participation from 145 trusts, the 2018 national cancer patient experience survey has revealed a trend of continued improvement in cancer care — demonstrating our ongoing progress with the objectives and commitments outlined in the national cancer transformation programme and NHS Long Term Plan.
This programme will support you to build the personal resilience, confidence and capability to meet the challenges and demands of an executive director and perform better at board level.
