Job title: Droitwich special constable
Condition: Learning how to stand now Ben is on the road to recovery
Ben Perry, a Special Constable with West Mercia Police, had his leg amputated when he was hit by a car after he stopped to help after a crash on the M42.
The 24-year-old, from Bromsgrove, was off duty when stopped on the hard shoulder on March 9th to offer assistance to a driver who had crashed into the central reservation. He was then hit by an out of control vehicle and thrown into the carriageway. His leg was amputated there and then by the impact.
After being taken to the QE and undergoing 4 operations and 5 blood transfusions, he is now at the Alexandra Hospital where he is closer to home whilst adaptations take place to enable him to go home.
