Hi, I’m Beverley, I’m 51 years young. I volunteer with British Heart Foundation and also sit on the National CVD Prevention System Leadership Forum at Public Health England.
I am a keen runner, having completed several marathons for charitable organisations.
4 years ago I had emergency angioplasty, resulting in my main artery being 95-99% blocked – lucky not to have had a heart attack!. hearing this news left me feeling confused and scared. However, I quickly picked myself up and was determined not to allow this to hold me back – and I’ve now completed 2 more London Marathons.
Exercise and lifestyle have subsequently become a huge part of my life. I run at least 5 times a week and also do strength exercises regularly – I’m very fond of press ups!
Heart disease does not discriminate, and it remains the number one cause of death. It is also preventable, and therefore I am passionate and enthusiastic about promoting this message. One of my own Twitter followers sent me this message:
“I write some of your tweets on post it notes so I can read when I need motivation”
My philosophy is “Take care of your body – it’s the only place you have to live!”
