@NHS from 26/02/18 to 02/03/18
Job title: Community Specialist Paramedic
Place of work: Knutsford and Macclesfield
I’m originally from Bolton but moved to Brighton in the late 90s to work for an airline. I moved back to Bolton in 2002 to start working for NWAS (originally GMAS) as an Emergency Medical Technician.
I completed my paramedic course in 2004 and worked as a supervisor until 2011 when I joined the Urgent Care Desk (UCD) based in Manchester. In UCD I completed telephone triage to lower acuity calls, which involved looking for appropriate alternatives to an ambulance response.
In 2015, I started my role as Community Specialist Paramedic in Knutsford and now include Macclesfield since the role was made permanent in 2017. I absolutely love my role due to the variety and the projects I’m involved with. I really enjoy working alongside the staff in Cheshire East, care homes and the public and I often deliver presentations to colleagues, clubs and schools.
I have very little spare time as alongside my day job I’m completing my masters in advanced practice and I’m currently completing a module with my exam date looming in May.
I’m due to be an auntie again this year so I’m very excited about her arrival in March. My husband also worked for NWAS until recently but now works for the Welsh Ambulance Service and at home the boss of the house is definitely our Cockapoo Pippy, she is so spoilt!
