Condition: Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome with multiple complexities

Place of work: South Warwickshire NHS Trust, Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital

I was born with the connective tissue disorder hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. hEDS affects all the collagen within the body, for example the digestive system, heart and muscoskeletal system.  I also live with postural orthostatic tachycardia and mast cell activation disorder. In 2015, shortly after getting  married, I caught meningitis and subsequently suffer with seizures. At present, my breathing and muscle difficulties are undiagnosed.

I love creating art such as mixed media journaling, illustration and taking photographs. I’m really interested in psychology and how art and creativity can be used therapeutically. With the support of my husband, care team and my local hospice, I’m able to enjoy life as much as possible and hopefully through my charity work I can make a difference to another person like me.
