Job title: MR Linac Therapeutic Radiographer
Place of work: The Royal Marsden
Hello, my name is Gillian and I am a therapeutic radiographer working on the MR Linac at The Royal Marsden. I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2011 with a BSc in Radiotherapy and Oncology. Since completing my studies, I have worked in both NHS and private sectors before coming to The Royal Marsden to train as an MR Linac Therapeutic Radiographer. I have experience in treatment and pre-treatment, with special interest in implementing new techniques.
Since joining the MR Linac team, I have completed a rotation in the Diagnostic MRI department and I am commencing academic studies in MRI physics and imaging. Working on the MR Linac has been an amazing opportunity for me, and a massive learning curve. As we are the first centre in the UK, and third in the world, to be treating a patient on the MR Linac I am also getting involved with research, which I had little experience in before. The MR Linac has the potential to transform radiotherapy and it is exciting to be working in a team that is at the forefront of this pioneering technology.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, musical theatre and looking after my new puppy, Luna!
