Condition or job title: Respiratory Consultant, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital
I love being a doctor and working in the NHS. What a great privilege to see people when they are vulnerable, gain their trust and offer help. I am proud to lead a fantastic multi-disciplinary team of professionals who, together deliver excellent respiratory care to our patients. I work as an ‘Integrated’ Respiratory Consultant and provide specialist care to patients outside of the hospital, taking care closer to home.
I’m passionate about improving people’s health and want to see top quality care available to all those who need it, regardless of where they live. This had led me on a journey of leadership and a mission of service improvement. Developing people is very important to me, and helping everyone to be their best. By encouraging and supporting others, we all gain.
As well as being a doctor, I’m a mum to Zach, aged nine and Jasmine aged four. I’m also a daughter, sister, wife, friend, just me. Balancing my professional life with my desire to be a good parent definitely brings its challenges. I’m a strong advocate of flexible working and always support those around me to find a work-life balance that suites their needs. It’s thanks to the support of my family, friends and colleagues that I can juggle the challenges that being a working mum brings.
I hope that I can provide an interesting peek into my world, and maybe find time for a run!
