@NHS from 06/07/18 to 07/07/18
Condition: Norrie Disease
Place of work: Moorfields Eye Hospital
I am a T11 (visually impaired) sprinter over 100m who finished 5th at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and ranked 3rd in Europe in 2017. I was the first female in the world to be diagnosed with Norrie Disease. Despite countless operations, the condition has caused me to gradually lose my sight and now I just have light perception in my left eye. My cheeky Labrador cross retriever Guide Dog Calvin has been sharing adventures with me for over 8 years and is coming up to retirement. I work part-time as an Expert By Experience for Choice Support, assisting the CQC with inspections of health and social care services. In my spare time I love blogging, reading, travelling, volunteering for my local Brownie pack and I’m also attempting to learn Spanish.
