Not all PCS services are part of the contract with Capita, and some services will continue to be delivered by other organisations – including Commissioning Support Units, CCGs, NHS Shared Business Services and NHS Pensions.
Before PCS services were transferred to Capita a service specification determined those activities that would not be included in the service. These services are known as “out of scope”, were provided at some offices through local historic agreement, but were not considered to be within the scope of the new national service. (Work to remove ‘out of scope’ activities from the NHS SBS and SERCO provision began in October 2015).
We have produced a summary of all PCS services which indicates which services are delivered by PCSE and other organisations.
The full service specification is where you should refer if you need a more detailed explanation. Anything not included in the specification is ‘out of scope’.
