Integrated care system (ICS) roll out

The NHS Federated Data Platform (NHS FDP) for systems is being rolled out in two phases:

Phase one – Autumn 2024

Phase One is currently active (and launched in September 2024).

From day one, you will gain access to your own instance of the NHS FDP.

Performance Overview Dashboard (POD): You will have access to POD which measures system data against national standards, to help you gain a clear understanding of your performance within the broader national context and localised insight.

Over time, additional aggregate data sets will be included. Once the necessary information governance (IG) and privacy-enhancing technologies (PET) are established, patient-level datasets, including Bridges to Health, will become accessible.

Centre of Excellence: teams will be given access to the NHS FDP Centre of Excellence – the programme’s one-stop-shop for building platform knowledge and skills. Alongside access, teams will have the opportunity to initiate their learning journey through this dedicated application and with support from the Centre of Excellence team. This engaging portal drives expertise and provides a range of channels and resources, including training sessions, events and surgeries, to empower teams to fully embrace the platform.

Phase two – Winter 2024/25

In the second phase of our system offer, we are looking at the levelling up of population health management functionality – including segmentation, risk stratification, and self-serve analytics that will help you to better support the health of your local populations through data-driven planning.

As products are being developed, scaled, and shared across Trusts, the NHS FDP will support the production of products tailored specifically to your needs.

These include:

  • Ability to ingest and interrogate local data – over time, develop products with person-level linked data, allowing for the development of tools with automated data feed.
  • Access and co-development of capabilities and products access a range of core products, such as Health Inequalities Dashboards and co-develop others such as Population Health Management solutions and System Control Centre.

Information governance

We are currently developing the information governance approach to enable you to make local data available in your system NHS FDP instance.

We will provide you with DPIA templates that can be locally adapted and ensuring that National does not own the entire process and instead empowers you to integrate this IG process into your own local procedures.

What do I do next?

If our programme team have not reached out to you yet, we encourage you to make first contact so that you can learn more about how we can support you to better serve your populations. Please contact our team and we can take it from there.
