Revised FFT guidance

We have produced revised FFT guidance, which takes effect from 1 April 2020. It has been published here in advance to help providers and commissioners to prepare for the changes which need to be put in place.

As well as covering the new policy in full, the document includes an “at a glance” review of the changes and implementation checklists for providers and commissioners.

Download the revised guidance here: NHS England and NHS Improvement guidance: Using the Friends and Family Test to improve patient experience.

From 1 April 2020, it will replace all previous guidance and advice on implementation of the Friends and Family Test, which is outlined on our original FFT guidance page. Until that date, the original guidance continues to set out the current requirements for providers and commissioners.

For the background on how the new guidance was developed and the latest news on the work to implement it, see the FFT development project 2018-19 page.

There is a set of Frequently Asked Questions about the changeover to the revised guidance.
