This NHS Improvement report documents a number of recommendations that were made based on a series of site visits to assess progress against the imaging requirements of the National Stroke Strategy (2008) to capture good practice and understand the challenges facing clinical teams.

In 2010, NHS Improvement produced a document entitled “Why treat stroke and transient ischaemic attacks as emergencies”. This continuation document demonstrates how clinical teams have achieved changes in implementing new stroke pathways, utilising multidisciplinary team working in partnership with both the emergency department and stroke team.
