NHS Diabetes produced The patient-held record (the Insulin Passport) which documents the patient’s current insulin products and enables a safety check for prescribing, dispensing and administration. The Insulin Passport complements existing systems for ensuring key information is accessed across healthcare sectors.
The patient information booklet explains that mistakes can be made in the prescribing, dispensing and giving of their insulin, and patients should check they are being given the correct insulin, and that they are administering it correctly.
