London – A Call to Action launched at the London Health and Care Leaders Forum

14 October 2013

The first of the London Health and Care Leaders Forum took place on Monday 14 October 2013 and was hosted by KPMG.

The London – A Call to Action was launched at the Forum describing some of the major challenges facing London including the growing and ageing population, higher than ever patient expectations and the need for radical reform if the NHS in London is to avoid a £4 billion funding gap by 2020. This enabled debate about the future of health and care provision in London.

Key findings from the first meeting were:

  • The title of the group will change from the London Leadership for Health and Care Commissioners Forum to London Health and Care Leaders Forum
  • The membership will be extended to include Trust and Foundation Trust Chief Executives. Discussions will take place with NHS Trust Development Authority and Monitor to ensure representation from the whole system.
  • The design group for future fora will be extended to include representation from the National Leadership Academy London, Public Health England and the Local Government Association (LGA). This will ensure the sessions are designed to reflect the need for joint working across all parts of the system. All three of these bodies have requested to be involved in the design and shaping of the Forum going forward.
  • Sessions will be themed in order that the discussions can help to accelerate the thinking into implementation with appropriate timeframes in place to support this.
