Need health advice this bank holiday? The NHS in London is here to help.
On the August bank holiday weekend (24 – 26 August 2019), Londoners will have access to a range of healthcare services, although some GP surgeries and pharmacies may have slightly different opening hours.
Those with urgent medical issues can dial 111 to speak to a fully trained advisor, 24 hours a day. Advisors can connect callers to a nurse, emergency dentist or GP and can arrange face-to-face appointments.
Londoners are also reminded to collect repeat prescriptions before the weekend. If you do need to visit a pharmacy, a full list of their opening hours is available here. Pharmacists are highly trained medical professionals and can help with a wide variety of minor health issues – from stomach bugs, to coughs and colds and minor injuries.
If you have an emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.
Accident and emergency departments are for seriously ill people with life threatening conditions, so we would encourage Londoners to use alternative health services if the issue isn’t an emergency.
