The NHS in London calls on Londoners to get ahead of their healthcare needs for the bank holiday weekend

Top doctor for the NHS in London, Dr Jane Fryer, is encouraging patients in the capital to prepare for their health in advance of the bank holiday. Ensuring medication and repeat prescriptions are ordered and collected early can be essential, while some GP and pharmacies will be closed or working reduced hours over the long weekend.

Dr Jane Fryer, Acting Medical Director for the NHS in London, said:

“This bank holiday, get prepared by collecting any prescriptions before the weekend, ensuring you have enough medication to last, as emergency services can typically be busier than usual.

“Covid-19 vaccinations will be taking place at local centres and clinics, so book your appointment early if you plan to get a jab, booster, or spring booster if you are eligible, or if you are booking in a vaccination for your little ones aged 5-11.”
