Needle free flu vaccinations for Years 7 & 8 school children in Coventry, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire

Years 7 & 8 school children, born on or between 1 September 2001 and 31 August 2003, in Coventry, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire are being offered the opportunity to be protected against seasonal flu this winter.

The needle free flu vaccines, which are free, should be available from participating GP practices and many pharmacies in these areas from the middle of September onwards.

You can find out which pharmacies are offering the needle free flu jab in your area by clicking on the links below:

Please note that this vaccine may not be suitable for a small number of children: those with problems with their immune systems, severe asthma or allergic to eggs.  These children will be offered an alternative inactivated flu vaccine but only at their own registered GP practice.

I have a daughter in year 7 in a school in Nuneaton but unlike some children we have not received a letter. Do I have to have a letter in order to qualify for the flu vaccination?

    • NHS England says:

      Hi Alison,

      Thank you for you comment.

We are sorry to hear that you have not received a letter informing you about the needle free flu vaccinations for Years 7 & 8 schoolchildren in Coventry, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

No you do not need to have a letter to quality for the flu vaccine. If you and your family are registered with a Warwickshire GP you can contact the practice and make an appointment for your daughter to receive the flu vaccine or alternatively you can go to a participating Warwickshire pharmacy. Kind Regards

  2. Rob Moon says:

I received a letter regarding the needle free flu vaccination for my daughter, Emily Moon. She attends a Warwickshire school but is in Year 9 now. The letter states children in years 7 & 8 are entitled to the vaccination. Am I still allowed to take Emily for this vaccination although she is in year 9 given that we have received the letter??
