Decision now made for patients at 18 The Parade, Oadby

The formal consultation, undertaken by NHS England in Leicestershire and Lincolnshire to determine the next steps for patients registered at 18 The Parade, Oadby has now concluded.

NHS England wrote to all patients asking them to complete a survey on the how they would like GP services to be delivered in their local area, as well as holding a series of face-to-face drop-in events. The consultation ran from Wednesday 15 October to Wednesday 26 November 2014, with two options for consideration.

  • Option 1 – To see if any existing practice in the Oadby and Wigston area may be interested in the opportunity to provide GP services to all registered patients at 18 The Parade, Oadby, after the current contract ends on 31 March 2015.
  • Option 2 – For all patients to register with another local GP practice of their choice.

In view of the feedback received during the consultation, and that no Oadby and Wigston practices were able to take all of the patients registered at the practice, NHS England has decided to proceed with Option 2 and will help patients register with another GP practice of their choice.

Di Pegg, Head of Primary Care (Leicestershire) at NHS England said: “We have carefully considered the views expressed by the patients during our six week consultation, as well as those of other local organisations and people.

“Patients have been written to and will be given all the assistance that they require to be able to register with a new GP practice by 31 March 2015. Information about alternative local GP practices is available on www, or by calling us on 0113 824 9525 (this is a local number). In the meantime, patients can continue to access the practice, as they would normally, where they can continue to receive high-quality GP services.”

Di added: “Both Oadby and Wigston GP practices are happy to accept patients who live within their practice catchment area. Similarly, any patients who live outside of Oadby and Wigston can be assured that all GP practices must accept registrations from patients living within their areas.”

NHS England is committed to ensuring patients have access to high-quality, local GP services.

The consultation feedback is available to download, from the practice, or by contacting 0113 824 9525 (local rate).
