Support the introduction of the Saving Babies Lives care bundle

Aim

Support the introduction of the Saving Babies Lives care bundle within the region and improve the ways in which the region’s two Local Maternity Systems share knowledge when things go wrong to improve quality and prevent their reoccurrence.

Outcomes

The project will;

  • Support the implementation of the Care Bundle to reduce stillbirths
  • Proactively encourage providers to adopt the Care Bundle
  • Reduce variation in the clinical practice around the prevention of stillbirth
  • Publish provider adoption of the Saving Babies Care Bundle
  • Run lessons learned and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions where relevant incidents occur
  • Develop and implement local policies and protocols

Role of the NWC SCN

The SCN will appoint Stillbirth Working Group Chairs for the region’s two groups. The SCN will analyse and publish the results of the local audit around the adoption of the Care Bundle on an ongoing basis. It will work with providers and commissioners to review regional implementation plans for the Care Bundle and support providers with their plans’ introduction. The network will establish a regional lessons learned forum within which RCA can take place and will help the region to learn appropriate lessons to change clinical practice.
