People’s Voice

Overview

The North West Coast (NWC) Strategic Clinical Network (SCN) Palliative and End of Life Care (PEoLC) People’s Voice Sub Group is a member of the wider People’s Voice Network. It operates as a collaborative group of patient, carer and public representatives who use their collective knowledge and life experience to consider palliative and end of life issues.

Purpose

To assess Network wide issues that directly affect patients and their families; improve end of life care through reviewing support for the patients and carers; to help identify gaps in service provision for patient and carer support and agree how needs can be met. To promote consistency and equity in Palliative and End of Life Care and to represent the North West Coast SCN PEoLC Network as a Palliative and End of Life Care Champion.

People’s Voice achievements to date include supporting the development of clinical standards and guidelines and production of the Bereavement Service Specification, which is currently undergoing audit and was a 2018 finalist for The BMJ Awards for Patient Partnership.

People’s Voice were shortlisted for a major patient participation award by AbbVie for their participation in the Audit Clinical Standards and Guidelines.

People’s Voice PEoLC Champions Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M) are involved in the following.

  • Various others personal interests and involvements

People’s Voice plans for 2019 includes a poster presentation using the Bereavement Service Specification audit results.
