Compassion in Practice – two years on Report

The latest report on the progress of Compassion in Practice was launched at the Chief Nursing Officer’s (CNO) Summit in November 2014.

Called Compassion in Practice: Two years on, the report includes a foreword from Jane Cummings and talks how the values of the 6Cs are spreading across health and social care and informing the commissioning process, along with the important role Care Makers play in bringing the vision to life.

The Compassion in Practice – one year on report presents extensive qualitative evidence of the impact and great examples of the 6Cs in practice launched at the Chief Nursing Officer’s conference in November 2013.

Early Years High Impact Areas

Early Years High Impact Areas are documents to support local authorities in commissioning children’s public health services.

The documents are mainly intended for use by commissioners and providers of early years services, health visitors, early years practitioners and local authorities. These documents align to Action Area one of Compassion in Practice.

Culture of Care Barometer

The Culture of Care Barometer is a tool for organisations to use it to engage their staff and patients in talking about the culture of care in their organisations.

This framework for personalised care and population health is aimed at supporting nurses, midwives, health visitors and allied health professionals (AHPs) to improve health outcomes and reducing inequalities.

This framework aligns to Action Area one of Compassion in Practice.

Health Visitor Implementation Plan 2011–15 A Call to Action

This Health Visitor Implementation Plan sets out a call to action to expand and strengthen health visiting services.

This implementation plan is aimed at NHS Trust Chief Executives, Directors of Nursing, Allied Health professionals, General Practitioners, Directors of Public Health and Directors of Children’s Services and aligns to Action Area one of Compassion in Practice.

An Evaluation of the Open and Honest Care: Driving Improvement Programme Implemented within NHS Trusts in the North of England

“Open and Honest Care: Driving Improvement” programme encourages organisations to publish safety, experience and improvement data together in the one report.

The overall aim is to improve practice, patient and staff experience and create a culture of safe compassionate care that staff and organisations can be proud of.

The Open and Honest Care programme was created as part of Action Area threeof Compassion in Practice. In total there are currently 34 organisations regularly publishing Open and Honest Care reports in the North of England.

Storytelling

Patient stories are a powerful tool in understanding the needs and experiences of the people we care for and the people we work with.

They can affect us in a way that other learning does not as stories allow us valuable insight into other people’s lives.

The Storytelling resource hub is aimed at health professionals encouraging the use of storytelling as a learning tool aligned to Action Area two of Compassion in Practice.
