How did women and their families contribute to the Review?

The Review had an excellent response from women and their families across the country.

Women and their families, as well as NHS staff and others with an interest in maternity services, were able to give their feedback on maternity services through writing to the Review’s email inbox, an online consultation, and 15 drop-in events which were held across the country:

  • Birmingham
  • Carlisle
  • East London
  • Ipswich
  • Manchester
  • Newcastle
  • Norwich
  • Oxford
  • Plymouth
  • Preston
  • Sheffield
  • South London
  • Stafford
  • St Albans
  • Taunton

At the drop-in events, the Review heard hundreds of stories ranging from the very best to the most traumatic experiences. Separate rooms were available at every event for people to share difficult or traumatic experiences in private.

This feedback has been essential in informing the Review to improve quality and the experience of women and their families in maternity services.

The Review also held an online consultation for women and families that had experienced loss or complications affecting the health of the mother or baby.
