The Innovation Ecosystem programme
The UK has a proud record of innovation in healthcare and the deployment of innovations. Despite significant challenges, including workforce pressures and rising care demands, the NHS has the potential to lead in healthcare innovation. By leveraging the life sciences sector and rich health data, it can transform patient outcomes and the UK economy, provided decisive action is taken at all levels to overcome barriers.
The Innovation Ecosystem Programme has fostered collaboration between the NHS and key stakeholders, including industry, academia, and regulatory bodies to support this transformation. In our Innovation ecosystem report the programme provides comprehensive recommendations that will evolve the innovation ecosystem by testing, adopting, and scaling innovations for the benefit of patients and staff. The intention being to both develop a set of recommendations and define a collaborative way of working – solving problems together as well as agreeing and delivering plans for the future.
The Innovation ecosystem report
This report focusses on how the NHS can work with wider health innovation and research partner organisations to better enable research, innovation development, and the adoption and spread of innovation in the NHS.
It aims to unlock the UK’s full potential to improve patient outcomes through innovation and enhance the UK economy for the future.
The report’s recommendations will help inform the forthcoming 10-year health plan, the Innovation and adoption strategy and the Life sciences sector plan.
