NHS England commissioned 31 Friends and Family Test (FFT) Pathfinders in February 2014.  This was a 12 week programme of work designed to:

  • provide evidence on how the feedback tool can work in particular health care settings (such as outpatient departments and community services)
  • explore the implementation of the FFT in various health care settings
  • review the existing FFT implementation guidance
  • address any specific issues relating to the existing implementation of the FFT.

NHS England has published a lessons learned report, based on the feedback provided by the pathfinders. The report describes the successes of the programme and the key challenges faced by the pathfinders. It also includes a number of top tips designed to support providers and practices implementing the FFT.
