Shared decision making to improve patient experience

Although patients are far more informed than they were even 20-30 years ago, some people express frustration and dissatisfaction with their care because they do not feel that they have adequate (if any) input into the decisions that health professionals are making about their health and their lives.

Helping healthcare services to be more proactive in involving patients – and helping patients to be more proactive themselves – will, therefore, have a significant positive impact on patient experience.
