The Strategy and Advisory Group for Patient Safety

Purpose and role

  • The Strategy and Advisory Group members should create the conducive context and conditions for improvement in patient safety at a local level in the NHS in England
  • To support the coordination of national patient safety initiatives and help align activity at a national level related to patient safety to ensure a consistent approach across the NHS in England
  • To facilitate open discussions and partnership working in relation to patient safety between NHS England, NHS Improving Quality, Care Quality Commission, Monitor, NHS Litigation Authority, NHS Trust Development Authority, Health Education England and the Department of Health
  • To hear from the Chairs and Senior Responsible Officers for the relevant safety groups in England and Sub-Groups of the Strategy and Advisory Group
  • To hear from each member of the Strategy and Advisory Group  in relation to their own patient safety strategy.
