More opportunities to Grab A Jab During Week of Walk-Ins

People living in the South East of England are being urged to Grab A Jab this week with a record number of walk-ins available across the region.

Approximately 200 of the 325 local vaccination sites in the South East are now listed on the Grab A Jab website for people to conveniently grab their life-saving jab, as the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Programme continues to push ahead at pace.

Sites range from a Cathedral in Rochester, vaccination buses in Sussex and Slough, to existing vaccination locations across the South East – Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxford (BOB); Frimley; Sussex; Surrey; Hampshire Isle of Wight and Kent and Medway. To find your nearest site, visit www.nhs.uk/grab-a-jab - simply enter your postcode.

Although more than 18.5 million vaccine doses have now been put into the arms of people in the South East, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and boosters, there are still more to come forward to have theirs.

Therefore, NHS England and Improvement’s Vaccination Lead for the South East – Caroline Reid – is urging people aged 18 and over, who are four or more weeks late for their booster, to come forward and get that vital top-up dose this week, as well as those who are yet to have their 1st or 2nd doses.

She said:” Thanks to the tremendous on-going efforts of NHS colleagues, volunteers and partners, we have bolstered our walk-in capacity across the South East this week. This means that there are now more grab a jab opportunities available than ever before for people to get protected and at their convenience.

“It is just as important to get vaccinated now as it was on day one of the programme, and it has never been easier to walk in and grab your jab while you are out and about this week.

“As of today, we know that over one million people aged 18 years and over are due their booster, so I would really urge them to visit their nearest walk-in site.”

Following a positive COVID-19 test, you need to wait a number of weeks before getting any dose of the vaccine. You need to wait:

  • 4 weeks (28 days) if you’re aged 18 years old or over
  • 12 weeks (84 days) if you’re aged 12 to 17 years old
  • 4 weeks (28 days) if you’re aged 12 to 17 years old and at high risk from COVID-19

The NHS is also this week inviting eligible 16- and 17-year-olds to get their booster as well as those at risk between 12 and 15.
