Improving resident doctors’ working lives

Trusts are making practical changes to day-to-day working conditions – making work safer, less stressful and easier to manage for resident doctors, so they can focus on their training and providing great patient care.

More than 75,000 resident doctors working across the NHS are the backbone of our service.

NHS England’s 10 Point Plan is about backing them with practical improvements to their working lives – from better rota management and payroll processes to rest facilities, hot food, training and a stronger voice in decisions that affect them.

Since the plan’s launch last year, trusts across the country have taken action. The video explores how Bristol NHS Group is working with its resident doctors and the case studies below provide examples of similar initiatives from across the country.
