Dedicated facilities created across mental health hospital sites

Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has invested in workspaces and facilities for resident doctors at two of its major hospital sites.

The Trust has established dedicated doctors’ offices at both St George’s Hospital and The Redwoods Centre, providing resident doctors with designated spaces for clinical administration, study and professional development. Dedicated on-call parking has also been introduced at both locations.

The investment has been complemented by the introduction of 24-hour access to hot meals, ensuring doctors working evenings, nights and weekends can get affordable, nutritious food whenever they need it.

Alongside improvements to facilities, the Trust has strengthened resident doctor representation through newly established board-level leadership arrangements. Senior leaders regularly attend resident doctor forums to hear directly from trainees and ensure issues can be escalated quickly where required.

The Trust reports consistently positive feedback from resident doctors about rota management and engagement with medical staffing teams – and work is underway on a dedicated resident doctor annual leave policy.
