Trusts reach 100% rota compliance
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are both now fully compliant with the code of practice on work schedules and rota information.
Resident doctors can report when they work beyond their contracted hours using new software and doctors who move between the trusts also no longer need to repeat mandatory training they have already completed. Resident doctors now all have access to self-development time.
Senior leaders and peer representatives are in place and the study leave payment process has been updated so resident doctors are promptly reimbursed for course expenses. Payroll errors are reported through a joint staffing approval group. From August, resident doctors will be able to take 2 weeks’ leave from the start of each new rotation and updated leave policies now include an appeals process.
Rest facilities are also being upgraded. The doctors’ mess in Tameside has been improved and Stockport is looking to move its mess to a new location. A bid for charity funding has been submitted to support the work. Extra lockers have been ordered in both trusts.
