Pop ups in the park among locations for Londoners to ‘grab a jab’ this weekend

People can grab a jab while enjoying the sun in the park or when out and about in London this weekend, as the NHS vaccination programme seeks to maximise protection before Covid restrictions are lifted on Monday.

With hot weather forecast for the weekend, pop-up clinics will be running in Greenwich Park, Wandsworth Common and Weavers Fields Park in Bethnal Green.

Londoners can also get jabbed while soaking up the culture in Camden Market or at the Tate Modern art gallery on Friday evening where DJ and influencer Zoe London will also be performing.

Sports fans will be able to grab a jab at various stadiums around London including at the Kia Oval, Stamford Bridge and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

People can also choose to get vaccinated at one of over 100 high street pharmacies offering walk in services, making it easier than ever to get vaccinated close to home.

Any adult will be able to turn up and get their first vaccine if they have not already taken up the offer.

Second doses are also available to people who had their first dose eight weeks ago or longer, in line with JCVI guidance.

Martin Machray, Joint Chief Nurse for the NHS in London, said:

“It has never been easier to ‘grab a jab’ while you are out and enjoying the sun in London this weekend.

“From parks, to art galleries and sports stadiums, our amazing staff and volunteers are doing all they can to make it easier for Londoners to get their jab.

“As we approach 19 July, there has never been a more important time to get your first vaccine, it not only protects you and your family but also your friends and those around you.”

Over 9.2 million doses of the vaccine have already been given in London.

A list of sites offering walk-in services is available online: https://www.england.nhs.uk/london/our-work/covid-19-vaccination-programme-2/covid-19-vaccine-sites-in-london/

You can also call 119 or visit the national booking service to book an appointment at a local vaccination centre or pharmacy.

People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance.
