Mark Lam appointed Chair of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust

NHS England / NHS Improvement is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Lam as Chair of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust starting from the 30th October 2021.

This appointment in London sees Mark Lam continue in his current separate role as Chair of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust’s current Chair, Cedi Frederick, will step down on the 29th October to take on a new role as Chair of Kent and Medway ICS. Cedi has also been appointed as Independent Chair of the London Vaccine Legacy and Health Inequalities Programme that aims to deliver sustainable change in the way we deliver key life-saving interventions to communities with traditionally low uptake.

Sir David Sloman, Regional Director of the NHS in London said:

“Mark Lam will bring a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and I’d like to congratulate him on his new appointment.

“I’d also like to congratulate Cedi Frederick on his new leadership role with Kent and Medway ICS and look forward to continuing to work with him on the vaccination programme and addressing health inequalities in London.”

Mark has been working in north London for a number of years, including as Chair of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust. Prior to working in healthcare, Mark was a senior executive in information technology and telecommunications and brings many years of global experience in transformation and strategy.

Dr Nnenna Osuji, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, said:

“I would like to thank Cedi Frederick for his guidance and counsel during his time at North Mid, and since I have become Chief Executive. His genuine love of people from staff to local communities has helped re-centre the focus of the Trust. We will miss Cedi and wish him all the best in his new role.

“As we say goodbye to one great leader, we welcome another. I am pleased to welcome Mark Lam as our new Chair. Mark’s experience across several sectors, including neighbouring Trusts, and his knowledge of the population we serve will help us on the next stage of our improvement journey, as we forge ahead with our Patient First approach to healthcare.”

Mark Lam said:

“It is a privilege to be joining North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust as Chair. I know I join at a pivotal time for healthcare and I want to thank everyone at the Trust for all they have done for local people.

“I’m excited to work with the leadership team, getting to know the wonderful staff across the Trust and meeting members of the local community who use its services. Together, we can build on North Mid’s strengths and continue make a real difference to the lives of people living in Enfield and Haringey.”
