The London Legacy Health Equity Partnership (LHEP)

Health care workers and community leaders gathered in front of a display board at the LHEP event in March 2024

The London Legacy Health Equity Partnership (LHEP) was an NHS-funded, multi-stakeholder programme for London that built on lessons learned from COVID and sought to mitigate health inequalities in screening, immunisations and access to health. LHEP focused on innovative and sustainable approaches developed and delivered in collaboration with London communities and with London health partners including NHSE London, UK Health Security Agency, Office for Health Improvements and Disparities, the Greater London Authority, Association of Directors of Public Health London and London Councils.

Reaching underserved communities

LHEP embedded a number of programmes and networks that used community engagement to build on health literacy and mobilise the NHS workforce to close the inequity gap and ensure communities across London aren’t left behind.

Framework and toolkit

The team worked hard to ensure learnings and insights were embedded into individual organisations and reflected in ways of working with communities.

Health networks

LHEP worked with health and community partners to establish four faith and community health networks.

Evaluation

Using a mixture of models, evaluation was a key step which provided insight into the impact in working alongside communities.
