“The death of Dawn Sturgess is desperately sad news. I want to express my condolences – and those of everyone here at Salisbury District Hospital –  to Dawn’s family. We will work with the Police to give them all the support that they need.

“The loss of a loved one is one of the hardest things in life to deal with, and so I would ask the media to respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time. For that reason, we will not be putting any further details into the public domain.

“The staff here at Salisbury District Hospital worked tirelessly to save Dawn. Our staff are talented, dedicated and professional and I know today they will be hurting too.

“They did everything they could.

“We continue to treat one other individual, who remains in a critical condition.”
