South West health and care teams receive top national awards
In the week marking 74 years of the NHS, South West health and care heroes are also celebrating national recognition for their care and commitment after their MPs nominated them for the 2022 NHS Parliamentary Awards.
Regional winners for the 2022 awards were named last month and at the ceremony in London today (July 6) three of the South West’s health and care teams also became national winners of the awards, which were launched back in 2018 to mark the NHS’s 70th birthday.
The awards featured 10 categories, including a new award acknowledging the response to Covid-19.
National winners from the South West named today in the 2022 awards are:
- The Health Equalities Award: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team, Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (now ICS) nominated by Luke Pollard MP and Anthony Mangnall MP
- The Nursing and Midwifery Award: Admiral Nurses – Tim Allen and Hannah Rogers, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, nominated by Robert Buckland MP
- The Excellence in Mental Health Award: HOPE Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative (including Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust), nominated by Siobhan Baillie MP, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP and Michelle Donelan MP
Alongside the winners, Anne Gachango, lead for The Haven, Sirona care & health, received highly commended in The Excellence in Primary Care and Community Care Award. Anne was nominated by nominated by Karin Smyth MP and Darren Jones MP.

The 2022 national winners across the 10 categories, were selected by a national judging panel, chaired by Professor Stephen Powis, and chosen from 70 regional winners from the seven regions of England.
