Practice nurses from across Yorkshire and the Humber gathered in York last night for a regional awards ceremony to recognise their achievements
NHS England organised the events to recognise the skills, expertise and dedication of practice nurses across the area.
There were nine categories in total including people’s choice, practice nurse of the year, practitioner of the year and rising star with an overall winner of inspirational practice nurse.
Deputy Director of Nursing for Yorkshire and the Humber, Wendy Barker, said: “We are thrilled so many people have come forward to nominate practice nurses for these awards. It shows what huge talent lies within the NHS in Yorkshire and the Humber.
“By celebrating the achievements of these individuals we can shine a light on just some of the fabulous people involved in practice nursing in the NHS.”

- Healthcare Practitioner of the Year: Michelle Padgett, Lupset Health Centre, Wakefield
- Rising Star (Practice Nurse less 2 years’ experience) Victoria Green, Kirton Lindsey, Gainsborough.
- Practice Nurse Innovator of the Year Samantha McNeely: University Health Centre Huddersfield.
- Practice Nurse Leadership Award (individual / team) Haxby Group York
- Practice Nurse Mentor of the Year: Sarah Newton Birley Health Centre, Sheffield.
- Practice Nurse Preceptor of the Year: Lisa Tindall, Gibson Lance Practice Kippax
- Inspirational General Practice Nurse: Sarah Butler, Haxby Group.
