Midlands Leadership and Lifelong Learning team

Previously known as the East and West Midlands Leadership Academies, the Midlands Leadership and Lifelong Learning team (Midlands LLL) was formed on 1 April 2020, as part of NHS England and NHS Improvement’s (NHSE/I) to move to seven regions across the UK.

The team aims to develop leadership capacity and capability within the Midlands; working with our region’s health and care systems to develop compassionate and inclusive leaders. The Midlands LLL supports and guides health and care leaders on how best to make decisions to assure performance across the region, as well as supporting system transformation and the development of sustainability and transformation partnerships and integrated care systems.

As we start to recover from the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, the team has been working hard behind the scenes to design, develop and procure the offers required by our systems within the Midlands. In June and July 2020 they held listening events with stakeholders to find out what they need from the team. Details and booking procedures to attend events from September 2020 onwards can be found on their website.

The Midlands LLL is led by Dr Clare Price-Dowd, Head of Leadership and Lifelong Learning, and although they are a new team of colleagues, they have a strong team spirit, a supportive nature and a diverse mix of people.

The Midlands LLL is integrated within the NHSE/I Midlands region, but is part of the NHS People Directorate headed by Prerana Issar, Chief People Officer within the NHS Executive Group.
