NHS North East and Yorkshire turns spotlight on 10 Year Health Plan

Fit for the Future – the newly published 10 Year Health Plan for England – seizes the opportunities provided by new technologies, medicines and innovations to deliver better care for all patients. It makes three big ‘shifts’ to get the NHS back on its feet and make it fit for the future:

  • from hospital to community to bring quality care closer to home,
  • from analogue to digital to create a seamless healthcare experience through innovation,
  • from sickness to preventive healthcare.

Over the next three weeks, using video interviews, case studies and social media posts, NHS North East and Yorkshire will highlight how the three shifts are already having a positive impact – using leading examples provided by trusts and care systems across the region.

Dr Hamish McLure, NHS Regional Medical Director for the North East and Yorkshire.Dr Hamish McLure, Regional Medical Director for NHS England North East and Yorkshire (pictured), said:

“The 10 Year Health Plan fundamentally reinvents the approach to healthcare so we can guarantee the NHS will be there for all who need it for generations to come. It has been shaped by the experiences and expectations of the public, patients, partner organisations and the health and care workforce and it reflects the changes people want to see.

“Through the three big shifts the NHS will personalise care, give more power to patients, and ensure the best of the NHS is available to everyone.

“Please follow our regional focus, over the next three weeks, to see how the North East and Yorkshire region is embracing this bold and ambitious new course for the NHS. Look out for our communications activity on X, Facebook and Instagram using the social media handle @NHSNEY.

“We’d like to thank our regional NHS partners for sharing what they are already doing to help deliver the three shifts.”
