NHS urges patients to continue coming forward for care as industrial action continues

Commenting as resident doctors’ industrial action continues across the NHS, Dr Hamish McLure, Regional Medical Director for NHS England in the North East and Yorkshire, said:

“A huge thank you to NHS staff who are once again going above and beyond to keep services running safely during this latest period of industrial action. We know this continues to be a challenging time, but your efforts to maintain urgent and emergency care, while also keeping as many routine appointments as possible going ahead, are truly making a difference to our patients.

“We’re encouraging patients to continue coming forward for care so please attend your appointments unless you’ve been contacted to reschedule. Use NHS 111 online for urgent health concerns and call 999 or visit A&E in emergencies. The NHS remains open.”
