Northern Greener Week

2–6 June 2025

Join us for Northern NHS England Greener Week — a virtual celebration of the innovative and impactful work happening across the North to support a Greener NHS and achieve our collective ambition of reaching Net Zero by 2040.

Now in its second year, Northern Greener Week is a collaborative event led by NHS England North West and North East & Yorkshire, in partnership with regional Nursing and Midwifery Teams. Taking place online from Monday 2 to Friday 6 June, the week will spotlight the projects, partnerships and people leading the way in embedding sustainability and climate resilience across healthcare.

All events will be held virtually and are open to NHS staff across and anyone with an interest. Each session will be bite-sized (45 minutes) and recorded, so you can attend live or catch up at a time that suits you.

Registration is now open on NHS Events

If you have any questions about the week or specific sessions, please contact: england.neygreenercomms@nhs.net.

What to expect

Northern Greener Week is designed to empower and enable healthcare institutions and staff to make sustainability part of everyday practice. The aim is to create lasting benefits for the NHS, patients, staff, and the wider community.

Throughout the week, you’ll hear real-world case studies from NHS organisations already making a difference. Sessions will include insight from sustainability experts working closely with the NHS, along with practical ideas that can be applied and scaled in other settings.

Each session will include interactive Q&As, giving you the chance to ask questions, share reflections, and learn from others. You’ll also have opportunities to connect with colleagues who are leading or supporting change across the region.

The week is focused on celebrating successful and ongoing sustainability projects, sharing best practice, and encouraging collaboration. It also supports the development of anchor approaches, system-wide learning, and effective evaluation.

Above all, Northern Greener Week is a chance to reflect, learn, and come together to accelerate positive environmental change in health and care.
