‘Grab A Jab’ campaign kicks off in pubs and bars to boost South East vaccine programme

Pubs and bars across the South East are promoting the ‘Grab A Jab’ campaign on their screens ahead of the UEFA EURO 2020 quarter-final to further increase the number of people with protection against Covid 19.

The ‘Grab A Jab’ campaign runs until the end of July and aims to make it easier and more convenient than ever for people aged 18 and over to come forward – crucially boosting the numbers of people receiving their first and second dose jabs.

People will be able to attend mobile, pop up and pharmacy-led vaccine sites across the South East, with no appointment needed. Find a walk-in coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination site in the South East region.

The initiative will also support efforts to accelerate second doses for those aged 40 and over, health and social care workers, unpaid carers and people at higher clinical risk, who will be able to receive their second dose from 8 weeks after their first, instead of 12.

Advertising vans can be spotted on the streets of Oxford, Brighton Seafront and Hove Lawns, Hastings and Reading City Centre this weekend urging people aged 18 and over to ‘Grab A Jab’ at local walk in clinics.

More than 10.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given in the South East since the vaccination programme – the largest in NHS history – launched six months ago.

Vaughan Lewis, Medical Director at NHS England and NHS Improvement South East, said: “We know that younger people have busy work, family and social commitments – especially with the Euros football tournament taking place at the moment – and we want to make it as easy as possible for them. Get the COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as you can to protect yourself, your family and your friends.”
