About us

NHS England South East is one of seven regional teams covering the counties of Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We make sure that people across the South East have access to high quality health and care services. Our work involves supporting the six integrated care boards and 32 NHS trusts in the South East region, to ensure that together they provide excellent services that meet the needs of patients.

We do this by providing professional leadership to the local NHS on commissioning, digital transformation, assurance and delivery, finance, nursing, medical and clinical leadership. We oversee foundation trusts and NHS trusts, as well as independent providers that provide NHS-funded care. We offer the support these providers need to give patients consistently safe, high quality, compassionate care within local health systems that are financially sustainable. By holding providers to account and, where necessary, intervening, we help the NHS to meet its short-term challenges and secure its future. We are also responsible for commissioning some healthcare services across the South East including; screening and immunisations programmes, specialised services, health services for those in the armed forces, and, health services for children, young people and adults in secure and detained services .
