Capacity at Covid-19 sites bolstered this weekend ahead of Christmas

Additional capacity has been put in place at some Covid-19 vaccinations sites in the South East this weekend, as the NHS strives to boost people’s protection ahead of Christmas.

Vaccination sites across the South East such as, the Kasaam Stadium in Oxford; SAGA building in Kent, Salt Hill Centre in Slough, a pop-up clinic on Witney High street, to name but a few, have bolstered their appointment capacity for walk-ins as well as pre-booked appointments between Friday (26/11) and Sunday (28/11).

Dr Vaughan Lewis, Regional Medical Director, said: “As we fast approach Christmas, a hugely important time for so many of us, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the festivities safely. One of the best ways to do this is by joining the millions already vaccinated across the South East.

“Whether you’re due your booster or second dose, or indeed you’re yet to have your first dose, additional vaccination capacity has been put in place for this weekend so head down to a site that is convenient for you.

He added: “Having your vaccine this weekend, will give you the maximum protection ahead of Christmas to protect you, your family and all those around you.”

Since the NHS in England made history with the first COVID-19 vaccination delivered outside a clinical trial in December 2020, more than 93 million doses of the life-saving vaccine have been delivered – with more than nine in 10 adults having had their first vaccination.

The NHS is vaccinating in line with Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) guidance, which was recently updated to include people aged 40 to 49 getting a booster, as well as recommending a second dose for 16 and 17-year-olds.
