NHS England’s South East Regional Midwife congratulates Royal Surrey County Hospital for being rated outstanding by the CQC following their recent inspection

Royal Surrey has received excellent recognition by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with both Royal Surrey County Hospital and their maternity services rated outstanding.

This follows a re-inspection of their maternity services in September and the publication of the official report, which retains the rating of outstanding for both the maternity service and Royal Surrey County Hospital site.

Kaye Wilson, NHS England’s South East Regional Midwife, said: I’m delighted that Royal Surrey County Hospital have been rated outstanding by the CQC following their recent inspection.

“This is testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the staff.

“The service has been nominated for several awards around patient safety and tackling health inequalities and they won a maternity and midwifery initiative of the year for their patient led service development, hearing the true voice of women’s project. Working with our service users is key in developing safe services for families, and their service and neonatal maternity voices partnership was extemporary – they were active and engaged to help drive engagement and co-production.

“The service has also developed a new maternity parent portal which allows women and birthing people to access their clinical guidelines, patient information and provides virtual tours of the maternity service.

“The unit was also recognised, for not only having the appropriate numbers of staff, but also that their staff were receiving appropriate levels of training and support, both so important in maintaining safe services.

“I’m delighted and very much look forward to visiting them again soon – congratulations!”
