This service specification covers the provision of open fetal (in-utero) surgery and supporting medical services by up to two Fetal Surgery Centres for congenital open spina bifida, the main forms of which are myelomeningocoele and myeloschisis. The service is to be delivered in a shared care pathway together with existing local maternity units / Regional Fetal Medicine Units and regional neurosurgery centres.
